Often circles fit well into rear garden layouts as common lawns are improved relatively easily by cutting and edging new shapes into them. By extending the short existing patio area and cutting a large circle into this lawn it created a series of additional spaces for planting, seating, and a slightly twee but effective water feature.

Natural stone paving (ideally ethically sourced) often comes in special circle packs perfect for designing scaled garden layouts with. This particular colour (brighter here in these pictures due to photos taken during rain) was chosen to match the honey colured clay brick of the house. A conrasting 'blue' engineering brick was used as edging to contrast and define the new areas.
